Open House Museum of Southwest Biology - March 30, 2017

Biology Department - 26 th Annual Research Days – March 30th and March 31st , 2017 The UNM Biology Department hosts its 26th Annual Research Days and Open House on Thursday, March 30th and Friday, March 31st .

This annual event is a showcase of student research celebrating discovery and education in the biological sciences. On Thursday, student posters will be displayed for judges' preview in the hallways of Castetter Hall throughout the day. Thursday afternoon events include a community lecture entitled The Avian Tree of Life in the Phylogenomics Era by Dr. Michael Anderson, Assistant Professor, Biology, from 3:30–4:30 p.m. in room 100 of Castetter Hall, and an open house in the Museum of Southwestern Biology (CERIA, Bldg. 83) from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. On

Friday, March 31st, students will present posters and oral presentations from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. in Castetter Hall. The keynote speaker is Dr. Jonathan T. Overpeck, Director, Institute of the Environment, University of Arizona, Tucson; University Director, Southwest Climate Science Center; Thomas R. Brown Distinguished Professor; and Regents Professor of Geosciences, Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences []. He will speak on “New Perspectives on Future Climate Change Risk and Ecosystem Change. The talk will be held in the auditorium of the Science and Math Learning Center (SMLC, room 102, Bldg. 14) 3:30 p.m. to 4:20 p.m. Dr. Overpeck’s talk will be followed by the presentation of scholarships.
