Undergraduate Certificate in Museum Studies
The Certificate Program is designed to give UNM undergraduate students, working professionals, and non-traditional students academic and practical training in the fundamentals of museology. Upon successful completion of the requirements, students are awarded an Undergraduate Certificate in Museum Studies.
A minimum of 30 acceptable credit hours must be earned for certificates that are pursued outside of a degree-seeking program. Of the 30 credit hours, a minimum of 15 credit hours must be earned in residence at the University of New Mexico and include the following:
- Successful completion of Museum Practices (MSST 407)
- Museum Collection Management (MSST 476)
- Museum Interpretation (MSST 475)
- At least one museum practica (MSST 486)
- One seminar in museum methods (MSST 485)
